What if I want to post something, but there's no "right" place to put it?
For now, create a thread in this section and I'll create a place and move it accordingly.
What if someone says or does something that upsets me?
While I can't speak to everyone's sensibilities, if you notice something that is offensive, chances are I'll see it too. If it's still there after about 3 days, send me a private message and I'll deal with it in some way. Don't be too upset if my response is "get over it!"
What if YOU do something that upsets me?
Get over it!
Seriously... I'm a reasonable guy, but I'm human. If I err, it truly is an error and I'm sorry. I'll fix the offending post. Just remember - if you upset me, I have the power and the ability to eject you, and I'm not afraid to use it.
Don't we have the right to free speech or something like that?
Sure. Create your own blog or forum and say whatever the heck you want to say. This is my place and here, what I say goes. This forum is for my vanity and pleasure, and to boost my self-inflated ego and if what you have to say doesn't suit me, I'll give you the boot (after a gentle warning or two.) Truly, I'm not interested in throwing people out or getting on your wrong side or upsetting you. Really, I'm not. Just remember that the purpose of this forum is to discuss my games and the games my friends are working on. Constructive criticism is encouraged. In order to make our games better, we need feedback. Your ideas, suggestions, corrections, and criticisms will serve to make our games better. That's what this forum is all about, and if that's how you'd like to participate, then you're among friends. If not, well, there's the door.
What about online or forum-based games?
Honestly, I haven't decided yet. I've participated in and run games like this before (everything from Verbal Tennis (answer a question with a question), to Ban the Previous Poster (in the most clever and inspirational way possible), to Werewolf/Mafia and Interactive Novel/RPGs. These take a lot of time and to be honest, I don't know if I have the time to devote. Perhaps if a member is willing step up and run games like this, including taking on moderation duties, we'll consider it. But for now, let's not.
Who are the Moderators and Administrators?
Right now it's just me. If you want to become a moderator, the first clue that you aren't qualified is for you to ask me. If I think you're qualified (and I think I need the help), I'll send you a private message invitation. You're free to decline and I won't be upset by it. Oh, and recommending your friends won't help, either.
Why did you delete my post?
Because I'm an evil maniacal self-absorbed---- No, really, if I delete your post, I'll send you a message explaining why. Check your personal mail box here on the forum.
I see a post that should be deleted. What do I do?
Nothing. If it's still there after three days (i.e. I haven't dealt with it), send me a private message. Perhaps I don't feel it violates any rules and it's okay. Perhaps I've been away and haven't been able to do my job. It's all good. Either way, please don't respond to it or pester me with messages or whatever.
Take note that I will not be in the habit of following posted links that aren't described or things that I'm interested in. I don't have time to view your You-Tube videos and look at your family photo album. While these things may not be inappropriate in general, they aren't things about my games. If you took a video or have pictures of playing one of my games, tell me so in the text with the link. If you're lying, it will be pretty obvious!
Because I'm not planning to follow links, it's possible a bad link may get posted that I'm not aware of. This is one of those cases where it's okay to notify me right away, but please do so privately. One thing to note: I'm going to trust you if you tell me about a bad link. Please don't abuse this power!
I want to post a link to my website. Can I?
I suppose. However, I'm only going to click links that are properly described by the poster, are not hidden, and don't appear to be suspicious or inappropriate in any way. If it looks to be that way, I'll delete your post (with a message.) If you post a link and someone else complains about it - i.e. its a link to something illegal or inappropriate, I'll delete your post and your account. I don't have time or patience for things like this.
I noticed some posts by "deleted member." What's up with that?
I recently updated my policy on dead accounts. If you sign up and do nothing, I'll give you about 30 days to do something. If your post count is 0 after 30 days, I'll delete your account. I suppose you can re-create it if you want, but the whole point of a discussion forum is to discuss things. If you aren't participating, why bother? Same goes for inactivity after one year. Even if you posted, I can see the date you last logged in. If a year has gone by since that time, I'm dropping the account. That's where we get the "deleted member" posts. Unless they are in the way, I'll leave the posts alone, though.
