One of the rules of fiction is that a character needs to be 'extreme' or very strong in some way to be memorable and interesting to read about. The Chapel Fjords game is very good at making realistic characters rather than extreme characters. The system is so realistic that it can be used in the real world for hiring, job assignment, and career advising for example. I have been watching the characters created by myself and my players for a while and I have noticed that none of them have been memorable or extreme. To fix this situation I think I want to add one more stat to provide a core 'word' for a character.
Other games have character levels. This provides a level of extremeness or memorability for a character. Chapel Fjords in concept based rather than number based, so I want a stat called 'nature', 'I am', or 'heart' or something like that, a word associated with it like 'might', or 'love' or 'villainy' for example and a level associated with that. So I would add something to the character sheet like I am: [Mighty], Level: [7] for example. I would remove the Player: [Jon Grover] stat to make room for this.
As far as game mechanics, each time a character uses their Bible verse for something besides a success or combat roll, the character might add a level to their 'heart'/'I am' stat. To use the 'heart'/'I am' stat, I'm not sure what it would be used for. Perhaps an extra die roll sometime during each game for each level. Perhaps a greater chance of having God grant a miracle when the character prays for one. How should I use this stat? What should I call it?
