Welcome to IndySligo Games
My name is W. Scott Grant and I am a gamer. I have been playing board and role-playing games since childhood and throughout my life, I have been experimenting and inventing my own games. Only recently have I gotten serious about this. I am also a Game Master and am (or have been) actively running games.
At present, my only publishing credits include a Solitaire Adventure for Tunnels & Trolls (version 7.5) called Final Exam and several articles published in the T&T fanzine TrollsZine! Years ago I had some poetry published, but I really don't count that anymore. I don't even remember which poems!
Speaking of poetry, if you want to read my poetry, feel free to visit my WordPress blog here: IndySligo Games - Musings on My Madness. Not only will you find my poetry, but also the poetry from my first wife who tragically passed away in 2001. Also, you'll find the ongoing journal of Kabize Vipertree, a non-player-character who lives in my D&D 5e setting, Neuith. Finally, I have several blog posts about miscellaneous topics, including how I came up with the Neuith setting and general stuff about me and my life.
Enough about me. Why are we here?
This site was created so that we can discuss my games and the games I care about. I have good friends who are also in the process of creating games and they are invited to participate here as well - that is, until they decide to take things on their own. Since I'm helping them with their ideas, I'm offering them a place to discuss them with the general public as well.
I have designed over a dozen games in the past several years. Some never got printed and tested. Some were play-tested and deemed to be failures. Some are still in the play-testing process and I'm ready to take them to the next step, which includes blind-testing, presenting to publishers, and hopefully, publication.
Who are you?
I'd like to think of you as my friend. Whether I know you personally or not, I have certain expectations of my friends.
First of all, I am a Christian, and while I don't expect you to conform to my beliefs, I ask that you respect mine and I will respect yours. This is not the place to discuss things like religion, politics, and other social issues, unless said topic relates directly to something in one of the games. Any threads relating to topics such as these will be deleted. Offenders will be put on notice, warned, and repeat offenders will be ejected.
In that I am a Christian, I expect that everyone will accord themselves in a reasonable manner. I can tolerate a lot, but I draw the line on blatant offensiveness, rudeness, and inappropriateness. Anything that seems the slightest bit illegal or inappropriate will result in immediate ejection. This includes pornography, racism, bigotry, and (my personal pet peeve) spam marketing. If you say or do something that just upsets me, I'll let you know. Depending upon who you are, I might give you the opportunity to correct it and we can move on amicably.
I will not follow links to see where they go. If you post a link and it looks the slightest bit suspicious, it will be deleted and you will be warned.
That's out of the way, what else?
In that this is a free forum, we'll all be bothered by ads. Let me know directly if any ads you see are inappropriate and I'll see what I can do about it. (I have no idea if I can influence them, but I can at least try.)
If you see something posted by someone else that is inappropriate (i.e. violates what I've said above), please give me the opportunity to see it and deal with it. If I haven't dealt with it in 72 hours (3 days), let me know via private message. Either way, I'd prefer that you not respond to or acknowledge the offending post. It just means more work for me.
We're here to discuss my games, and the games of my friends. I don't much care if you want to talk about other games, but remember there are plenty of places to go and do that - like BoardGameGeek or the forums hosted by the designers and publishers of those games. If you are designing your own game and would like to discuss it here, let me know and I'll set up a section for you.
Finally, occasionally new people will sign up, browse around a bit then never return. While I can't exactly prevent this, I think that if you want to join a discussion forum, you should at least make an effort to participate. I get it that there may be nothing here that interests you. So be it. However, if I see an account created, but no activity (no posts, no private messages, nothing), and remains so for 30 days, I'm dropping it. If you do post something, but never return after a year, I'll delete the account. It's not that I don't like you or anything. I'm just OCD and if you're not participating, why clutter my stats with dead accounts?
---
That's it for now. If I think of anything else that needs to be said here, I'll add it. Also, if you think of something I should add, please let me know.
Thanks for participating!
